Jayprakash Market Yard
Leading Market Committee in Vidarbha

The Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC), Tumsar, was established in the year 1963, but its actual functioning began on 01/10/1972. At that time, the jurisdiction of this Market Committee was limited to 5 miles around Tumsar city. In 1977, the jurisdiction of the Market Committee was expanded to include 150 villages from Tumsar taluka and 108 villages from Mohadi taluka, making a total of 258 villages under the committee's area. The then first Chairman, Shri Ishwardayalji Patle, with a visionary approach, purchased 6.34 hectares of land on Bhandara Road and developed the basic facilities required for establishing the Market Yard. Shri Ishwardayalji Patle served as Chairman from 01/09/1971 to 20/09/1984. From 21/02/1984 to 24/07/1986, Shri D. C. Ambatkar and from 25/07/1986 to 23/05/1988, as well as from 24/05/1988 to 11/07/1988, the position was managed by administrators. Thereafter, the Tumsar Market Committee was bifurcated, creating two separate committees: Tumsar and Mohadi. Shri Manikrao Bhure served as the nominated Chairman of Tumsar Market Committee, and Shri Anandrav Vanzari served as Chairman of Mohadi Market Committee from 12/07/1988 to 02/09/1990. Following this, from 03/09/1990 to 31/10/1990, the committee was under the administration of Shri J. R. Marbate. Elections were then held, and once again Shri Ishwardayalji Patle served as Chairman from 01/10/1990 to 10/08/1997. However, since the Mohadi APMC could not become fully functional, as per the orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court, Delhi, the Mohadi and Tumsar market committees were merged. Shri Mayurdhwaj Gautam was appointed as the nominated Chairman from 11/08/1997 to 10/08/2000. After the tenure of the directors ended, the committee remained under administrative rule from 11/08/2000 to 04/12/2000. Elections were then held, and Shri Shishupal Patle served as Chairman from 05/12/2000 to 07/12/2005. From 08/12/2005 to 17/08/2009, various administrators managed the committee's functioning. After elections, Shri Bhaurao Tumsare served as Chairman from 18/08/2009 to 19/09/2021 for two consecutive terms. During his tenure, several developmental works were completed in the Market Yard – such as auction halls, open platforms, roads, weighbridges, warehouses, grain cleaning machines, and other facilities. From 20/09/2021 to 28/05/2024, the committee was managed by administrators – Shri R. C. Chorghade, Shri V. N. Deshpande, and Shri R. T. Agade. After the committee elections, Shri Bhaurao Tumsare has been elected Chairman for the third time and has been serving since 28/05/2024.

The committee currently has no loans from any bank or financial institution. The progress of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee, Tumsar, has been made possible through the valuable contribution of the Board of Directors, respected officers of the department, officials, commission agents/traders working in the yard, porters, weighmen, employees, and the farmer community.
